The Geelong Gallery has opened its doors to visitors to see shortlisted pieces for the 2022 Geelong Contemporary Arts Prize.<\/p>\n

The Geelong Gallery is inviting the public to make their way through the gallery and view the artworks on show.<\/p>\n

Selected from more than 400 entries from around the country, the 28 shortlisted works for the 2022 Geelong Contemporary Art Prize are said to reflect the sophistication and rich diversity of contemporary Australian painting.<\/p>\n

“It’s very exciting to have had opened the gallery over the weekend for the public,” senior curator Lisa Sullivan said.<\/p>\n

“We have a beautiful and diverse range of pieces apart of the prize this year which encapsulate different mediums and themes.<\/p>\n

“It’s also great to have artists at different stages of their artistic journey be apart of the prize.<\/p>\n

“We have young artists who have never been shortlisted and experienced veterans who have made multiple pieces that have been shortlisted before.”<\/p>\n

The Geelong Contemporary Arts Prize winner will receive a $30,000 acquisitive award as part of the biennial exhibition with the money no doubt giving the winner a boost for their future artistic dreams.<\/p>\n

“The winner of the prize will be deemed to be making a diverse and valuable addition to our collection,” Sullivan said.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to crowning the winner and we hope that the exposure and prize can go towards building up their artistic portfolio and career.”<\/p>\n

The winner of the Geelong Contemporary Arts Prize will be crowned on July 15 at an invitation-only event at the Geelong Gallery.<\/p>\n
