	{"id":52590,"date":"2022-07-07T10:48:06","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=52590"},"modified":"2022-07-07T10:48:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:48:06","slug":"martin-cutter-resign-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/martin-cutter-resign-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Cutter to resign as city&#8217;s CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CITY of Greater Geelong chief executive officer Martin Cutter has unexpectedly announced he will step down from his role at the end of September.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cutter started as the city\u2019s chief executive officer in June 2018 following a successful executive career across the public and private sectors, including more than 18 years in local government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of what we have achieved at the city over the past four years and my role, while complex, has been incredibly rewarding,\u201d Mr Cutter said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to thank and acknowledge the councillor group, the executive leadership team, the employees and volunteers who have continually demonstrated their passion and commitment to the organisation and the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to recognise the support and leadership I have received from those who have led the Council during my time as CEO, including Cr Bruce Harwood, Cr Stephanie Asher, Cr Trent Sullivan and Cr Peter Murrihy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel that now is the right time for both the organisation and for me personally to step down. I\u2019m now in a time in my life where I can turn to focus on personal pursuits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to spending time with my wife Fiona, our two dogs and our two boys, who are both based overseas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy thanked Mr Cutter for\u00a0his leadership and for his dedication to making the city a great place to live, work and invest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMartin is a respected leader and it has been a pleasure to work closely with him over the past four years due to his straightforward nature, ability to form positive working relationships and his clear communication style,&#8221; Cr Murrihy said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is fitting that Martin will welcome the organisation into our new building, Wurriki Nyal, before he ends his time at the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Martin\u2019s leadership and together with this Council, we were able to establish a civic precinct that not only transitions seven workplaces into one but also contributes to the revitalisation of central Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMartin has set a clear direction for the organisation and has established a strong leadership team to support its next leader. I appreciate Martin\u2019s extended notice to ensure we can undertake a smooth transition process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn executive search will begin shortly to select a new CEO.
