{"id":53348,"date":"2022-07-17T04:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-07-16T18:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=53348"},"modified":"2022-07-17T04:00:30","modified_gmt":"2022-07-16T18:00:30","slug":"paralympic-gold-medallist-to-headline-sporting-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/paralympic-gold-medallist-to-headline-sporting-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Paralympic gold medallist to headline sporting fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Barwon Sports Academy will continue to help aspiring athletes across the region chase their sporting dreams thanks to next month\u2019s Bis-Sport Breakfast fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>The breakfast event, on August 10 at GMBHA Stadium, themed The Power of Sport \u2013 A Life Changer, will be a much-anticipated fundraising event after last year\u2019s cancelation due to COVID19.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s special guests include Paralympic Gold Medallist Kelly Cartwright and her coach Anula Costa, who are shining examples of sport changing lives and the inseparable bond people can share through sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was delighted when myself and Anula were approached by the BSA to be special guests at the Bis\u2013Sport Breakfast and I\u2019m really looking forward to the breakfast,\u201d Paralympic Gold Medallist, Kelly Cartwright said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BSA have helped me during my sporting journey and I\u2019m grateful for this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Local personality Roxie Bennett will host the breakfast, while Former AFL Geelong Cats premiership player and event special guest Matt Stokes will speak about his sporting journey.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2011, the Bis-Sport Breakfast has raised over $100,000 for 450 local athletes in the Barwon region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter 10 years this year\u2019s breakfast has had a refresh and promises to be a wonderful morning,\u201d CEO of the Barwon Sports Academy, Cam Loftus said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKelly, Anula and Matt\u2019s stories are all fascinating and Roxie will bring this to life,\u201d Loftus said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose of raising funds for local athletes to shine stays the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For bookings head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trybooking.com\/BZSVE\">www.trybooking.com\/BZSVE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Barwon Sports Academy will continue to help aspiring athletes across the region chase their sporting dreams thanks to next month\u2019s Bis-Sport Breakfast fundraiser.
