{"id":55380,"date":"2022-08-23T04:00:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T18:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=55380"},"modified":"2022-08-17T11:25:54","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T01:25:54","slug":"power-to-support-all-abilities-program-with-sportsmans-lunch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/power-to-support-all-abilities-program-with-sportsmans-lunch\/","title":{"rendered":"Power to support all-abilities program with Sportsmans Lunch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Newcomb Power Football and Netball Club will support their all-abilities football and netball programs with a special junior fundraiser this AFL Grand Final Eve.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, September 23, the club will hold their inaugural Sportsman Lunch at Grinter Reserve, hosting Geelong premiership royalty in Mathew Stokes, Cameron Ling and David Wojcinski.<\/p>\n<p>The event will showcase and detail the Geelong Cats premiership dynasty, as the trio exchange stories from their football careers.<\/p>\n<p>Junior co-ordinator Scott Smith said the club was thrilled to secure the Cats trio for the special event, hoping the premiership heroes would attract people to the luncheon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thoroughly looking forward to hosting the Cats premiership players down at Newcomb come this September for what will be a really great day of fundraising for our all-abilities programs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very passionate about providing opportunities for everyone and feel as if the funds from the luncheon will go a long way to making sure we get plenty of all-abilities footballers and netballers involved in the program.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our aim with the funds is to extend all-abilities programs into schools in the region and to also grow the profile and set up an all abilities club down on the Surf Coast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Smith said the program has been a shining light for many all abilities athletes in the region with both Auskick and net-set-go programs offering children a chance to pick up a football or netball and realise their potential.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want kids to realise that they can do it, and once we put a ball in their hands, they see how fun it can be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By getting equipment into schools in the region, our offering will only grow, making sure more athletes get to experience it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Luke Maher from Master Maher will be MCing the Grand Final Eve event and attendees can look forward to a two-course lunch and a three-hour beverage package as part of the $125 ticket price.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hope that the three Geelong Cats premiership stars can draw a big crowd and we can raise plenty of funds to continue expanding this amazing program,&#8221; Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsorship opportunities are available for the event by contacting junior co-ordinator Scott Smith at 0403 017 977.<\/p>\n<p>To buy a ticket to the event, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trybooking.com\/events\/landing\/938589\">www.trybooking.com\/events\/landing\/938589<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY NATHAN RIVALLANDThe Newcomb Power Football an [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn btn-secondary understrap-read-more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/power-to-support-all-abilities-program-with-sportsmans-lunch\/\">Read More&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":201,"featured_media":55381,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"post_folder":[],"class_list":["post-55380","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
