KEY precincts across Geelong’s CBD will be lit up with neon signs and have extra seating, and outdoor dining infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The upgrades aim to enhance outdoor areas and support Greater Geelong’s night time economy as a result of a new partnership between council and the State Government.<\/p>\n
“We’re delivering creative lighting and extra seating to bring more colour to Central Geelong and support new and existing businesses,” Geelong Mayor Peter Murrihy said.<\/p>\n
Love Central Geelong signs have already been installed at Little Malop Street to add extra ambiance to Geelong’s popular dining and entertainment precinct and was visited by Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation MP Melissa Horne last week.<\/p>\n
The lights were produced by Geelong company Custom Neon and installed by Lifestyle Electrical.<\/p>\n
“It’s wonderful to see the revitalisation of central Geelong continuing while also creating jobs for local tradespeople,” Cr Murrihy said.<\/p>\n
Investments to boost the Geelong Waterfront can be found at several locations along the popular strip.<\/p>\n
New outdoor furniture has been installed to help locals and visitors make the most of areas such as Western Beach, Eastern Beach, Fisherman’s Basin Marina, Fairnie Park and Steampacket Quay.<\/p>\n
The project is one of a number of infrastructure investments happening across Greater Geelong with support from the Victorian government’s COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
