THE City of Greater Geelong will soon reveal which photos will earn a coveted place in the city’s calendar for next year.<\/p>\n
More than 1,000 professional and hobby photographers sent in their entries to the 2023 competition, which the City of Greater Geelong whittled down to a shortlist of 26 for a
\npublic vote.<\/p>\n
The ballot, which closed yesterday (Wednesday, September 7), will determine the feature image of each month and the cover shot next year’s calendar in the ninth iteration of the popular contest.<\/p>\n
Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy said the event attracted entries from all ages.<\/p>\n
“We were blown away by the talent on show across more than 1,000 entries from both amateur and professional photographers.<\/p>\n
“Our free calendars are incredibly popular, and many residents put the calendar up in their home and send copies to friends and relatives as gifts.”<\/p>\n
Creative communities and culture chair Cr Trent Sullivan said the calendar helped to foster community pride, share important dates and information with the community, and recognised the talent of local photographers.<\/p>\n
“There’s so many stunning places to photograph across the Geelong region – from our beaches to beautiful rivers, street art, rural farmland and spectacular waterfront,” Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n
