{"id":58710,"date":"2022-09-22T04:00:28","date_gmt":"2022-09-21T18:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=58710"},"modified":"2022-09-22T10:55:48","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T00:55:48","slug":"k-rocks-suburb-star-wins-10000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/k-rocks-suburb-star-wins-10000\/","title":{"rendered":"K rock&#8217;s suburb star wins $10,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A PORTARLINGTON resident became $10,000 richer in the blink of an eye in the culmination of K rock&#8217;s $500,000 Suburb competition.<\/p>\n<p>Held at Wallington&#8217;s Flying Brick Cider Co early on Thursday last week, the radio station&#8217;s event saw 100 people standing on a grid numbered 1 to 100, each representing a suburb or locality from across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80005\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80005\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-80005 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/KRock-ReadySet_44014-1-600x380.jpeg?_t=1663715152\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80005\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The entrants&#8217; grid is ready to go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>K rock morning hosts Tom, Lingy and Loggy (Tom Lewis, Cameron Ling and Lauren Temuskos) drew out the name of the lucky winner, Natalie Pike from Portarlington, who automatically won $10,000 and had the chance to win $500,000 by picking the correct number out of 100.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her choice of number (21) being the wrong one, Ms Pike was thrilled with the result.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80006\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80006\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-80006 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/KRockWinnerwith_02711-1-600x380.jpeg?_t=1663715162\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80006\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Portarlington&#8217;s Natalie Pike (centre) hugs one of her children after winning $10,000, alongside K rock presenters Cameron Ling and Lauren Temuskos.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s still fantastic!&#8221; she said. &#8220;Oh my goodness, I&#8217;m speechless.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Sharp Group director of marketing, sales and hospitality Lyndsay Sharp said it was &#8220;a seriously awesome morning&#8221;, with more than 150 people in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Natalie from Portarlington was ecstatic.
