FAMILIES in Belmont will enjoy better sports facilities through an investment in new netball courts and female friendly facilities from the Andrews State Government.<\/p>\n
Labor have pledged to invest up to $1 million towards the new netball and female friendly facilities at Winter Reserve, aiming to deliver resources that the Belmont Lions Football Netball Club and the whole community can be proud of.<\/p>\n
Labor believes community sport is the lifeblood of so many suburbs and a way of bringing families together through a shared love of sport.<\/p>\n
Geelong MP Christine Couzens said while local clubs continued to work hard to fundraise, more families were struggling to make ends meet and therefore clubs could not lean on the generosity of their members.<\/p>\n
“The Andrews Labor Government is backing local clubs like the Belmont Lions to provide first-class facilities they deserve, with a new netball court and new female-friendly facilities,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Local sporting clubs are the heart of so many communities, and these new female friendly facilities will help grow female membership and participation at the club.”<\/p>\n
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence also welcomed the investment announcement.<\/p>\n
She said the pledge would continue to deliver better grounds, courts and facilities in every corner of the state, including Belmont.<\/p>\n
“This upgrade will be great for the Belmont sporting community, boosting the training and competition capacity.<\/p>\n
“We’re creating more opportunities for community sport to thrive, because it’s so important for people’s mental and physical wellbeing.”<\/p>\n
Labor says it has invested more than 1.6 billion into upgrading local sports clubs, and hopes to continue building better recreational environments for families to enjoy across Victoria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
