{"id":60066,"date":"2022-10-17T04:00:20","date_gmt":"2022-10-16T17:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=60066"},"modified":"2022-10-13T10:05:17","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T23:05:17","slug":"miff-and-always-live-bring-music-to-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/living\/miff-and-always-live-bring-music-to-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"MIFF and Always Live bring music to Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an Australian first, Mushroom Pictures, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and Always Live will bring the magic of music and film to Geelong and two other major Victorian regional centres next month.<\/p>\n<p>Launching in late November, the LongPlay Music Festival will showcase of the best music documentaries from across the globe at Geelong&#8217;s Pivotonian Cinema, as well as at the Regent in Ballarat and the Sun in Bairnsdale.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day festival is a curated selection of world-class music feature films, bringing the music experience to screens to energise regional Victoria through the unique storytelling of music and cinema.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_82064\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-82064\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-82064\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/TheLastWaltz_74416.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"444\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-82064\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A 4K restoration of The Last Waltz, the film of The Band&#8217;s last concert, will be screened.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Headlining the exciting line-up of music documentaries is The Angels: Kickin&#8217; Down The Door &#8211; the new feature documentary about the legendary Australian rock band.<\/p>\n<p>LongPlay will also feature the Sinead O&#8217;Connor biopic Nothing Compares; the 4K restoration of Martin Scorsese&#8217;s classic The Last Waltz; and We Are The Thousand, a story of how Foo Fighters fans formed the world&#8217;s biggest band in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>We Are The Thousand will be of particular interest to Geelong music and film fans, as the Pivotonian Cinema is across the street from GMHBA Stadium, the venue for the Foo Fighters&#8217; sold-out concert (also part of Always Live) in March.<\/p>\n<p>The festival has also announced that Angels brothers Rick and John Brewster will perform an acoustic set of some of their biggest hits on November 21 at the Ballarat Regent Cinema immediately after the screening and take questions from fans in the audience.<\/p>\n<p>This event is part of Always Live, a statewide celebration of contemporary live music supported by the Victorian government through Visit Victoria.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_82065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-82065\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-82065\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/NothingCompares_49256.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-82065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nothing Compares is a documentary about Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O&#8217;Connor.
