{"id":60133,"date":"2022-10-20T04:00:02","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=60133"},"modified":"2022-10-13T11:17:22","modified_gmt":"2022-10-13T00:17:22","slug":"major-works-begin-at-grovedale-west-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/major-works-begin-at-grovedale-west-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Major works begin at Grovedale West Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MAJOR works to create a $6.6 million upgrade have begun at Grovedale West Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday last week, Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins and South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman visited the school in Heyers Road to turn the sod and mark the start of construction.<\/p>\n<p>A new building containing new classrooms will be built at the school, along with new toilets and staff office facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Existing playing fields will be modified and upgraded, along with landscaping and outdoor learning spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, the Victorian government announced McColl Smith Projects Pty Ltd had been appointed for the redevelopment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60134\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60134\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-60134\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/10\/220825_GrovedaleWes_12990.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60134\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An artist&#8217;s impression of the completed upgrades. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Works are expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s great to officially mark the start of construction at Grovedale West Primary School, upgrading classrooms and sporting facilities for students and teachers,&#8221; Ms Hutchins said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re ensuring local students have the best spaces to learn in and every child is given every chance to succeed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cheeseman said the works were a much-needed and well-deserved project that will deliver new modern facilities for the students of a great school.<\/p>\n<p>The Grovedale West Primary School upgrade was a State Budget commitment made in November 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAJOR works to create a $6.6 million upgrade have begun at Grovedale West Primary School.
