THE Corio Community Sports Club have plugged in a new sponsor for next year and are excited about the possibilities ahead.<\/p>\n
This week, the club \u2013 which comprises Corio Football Club, Corio Netball Club, and Northern Stars Football Club \u2013 announced Recharge Industries would be its major sponsor for the 2023 season, with Recharge Industries to donate playing gear and equipment including netball and football uniforms, boots, and footballs and netballs.<\/p>\n
The company will also get naming rights to the oval in Purnell Road.<\/p>\n
Corio Community Sports Club president Greg Ince said the level of Recharge Industries’ sponsorship was totally unexpected but would make a huge difference to the club and its players, especially its younger players.<\/p>\n
“We’re obviously in an area where we’re dealing with people who are struggling with making ends meet, paying for memberships, sporting gear, that sort of thing.<\/p>\n
“We have to give the kids a pathway, in life as well as in sport.<\/p>\n
“It’ll be so good when we start advertising that around to all the junior kids who want a game, they can play here for nothing.”<\/p>\n
He also thanked previous major sponsor Viva Energy, which was continuing to back the club.<\/p>\n
Secretary and sponsorship co-ordinator Lynda Bennett said Recharge Industries had been incredibly helpful from the beginning, and the partnership had caused a ripple effect.<\/p>\n
“In some of the emails I’ve sent to other potential sponsors, since I’ve said we’ve got a new major sponsor, I think we’ve got six more that have come on board… and we never get sponsors, never.”<\/p>\n
Recharge Industries, a portfolio company of Scale Industries (which has an office in North Geelong), has plans to build Australia’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery cell production facility in the Geelong region and says it is dedicated to building great communities.<\/p>\n
“It is crucial we support communities we see as important parts of our local hiring base, such as Corio,” Recharge Industries scale officer and Geelong local Mick Collard said.<\/p>\n
“Geelong is a traditional base for manufacturing with industries of the past, such as Ford and Shell, having been based in Corio.<\/p>\n
“The region is home to a strong working-class community that Recharge Industries will both support and be supported by.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
