{"id":62336,"date":"2022-12-02T04:00:46","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T17:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=62336"},"modified":"2022-12-01T11:49:45","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T00:49:45","slug":"sprints-and-tricks-headline-geelong-revivals-return-to-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/sprints-and-tricks-headline-geelong-revivals-return-to-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Sprints and tricks headline Geelong Revival&#8217;s return to November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Motoring Revival Festival drew more than 50,000 spectators to Geelong Waterfront for three days of jam-packed full of high-octane motorsport and family entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,100 vehicles, cars and motorcycles raced or were on show across the precinct, however, it was Matt Mingay and the Hot Wheels Stunt Team who stole the show this year with their precision driving, ramp jumps, monos, and skid demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>Event director Nicholas Heath said following on from a make-up Revival Festival in March, the November edition needed a different flair to wow crowds and increase numbers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 297px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/12\/UhveY9gM_03030.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"445\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stuntman Matt Mingay showing off his skills alongside the hot Wheels Stunt Team.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Given it was the event&#8217;s second time around the block this year, it was our goal to put on something a bit different and I think our on-track entertainment was a real showcase of that,&#8221; Mr Heath said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were blessed with pleasant weather making for an incredible atmosphere and great crowds across the weekend.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 411px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/12\/hQUCEwRg_40750.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"411\" height=\"274\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">1,100 cars and motorcycles filled Geelong&#8217;s waterfront in this year&#8217;s Geelong Motoring Revival Festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The classics were also a visitor favourite ranging from the Quarter Mile Sprints, which boasted perfect conditions, to The Pits and hundreds of project cars on display, to Shannons Classic Motorshow, and more.<\/p>\n<p>A family fun day, the event also included children&#8217;s activities of play tables, video games and colouring stations.<\/p>\n<p>Nick De Jong and his All Wheel Drive 2007 Ford Territory and Nick McBride&#8217;s Porsche Taycan Turbo S clocked 10.36 seconds and 10.61 seconds respectively among cars on Saturday and Sunday to claim the Sprint&#8217;s winning times.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, among the bikes, Michael Smith&#8217;s 2014 Honda CBR1000RR timed best on both days to claim the outright winner&#8217;s mantle with times of 10.42 and 10.39 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Fans of the Revival Festival will now need to wait the usual year before it returns to Geelong, with organisers confirming it will be back on November 24-26, 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Motoring Revival Festival drew more than 50,000 spectators to Geelong Waterfront for three days of jam-packed full of high-octane motorsport and family entertainment.
