A DEVELOPER has lodged a $2.5-million plan to build four multi-storey townhouses at Geelong busiest thoroughfare.<\/p>\n
The City of Greater Geelong is advertising plans for four new dwellings at 302 La Trobe Terrace, Newtown \u2013 opposite McKillop Street \u2013 at the current site of a three-bedroom residence.<\/p>\n
The new properties would be three storeys tall including a rooftop terrace and be set behind each other to give the impression of a single property when viewed from the street, planning documents said.<\/p>\n
Proponents stated that its development would design the new dwellings to fit in with their surroundings.<\/p>\n
“The proposed dwellings are contemporary in style with a combination of flat and pitched roof form and is well articulated through the use of punctuations and proposed materials\/finishes.<\/p>\n
“The design of the development has a contemporary, yet conservative aesthetic, is reflective of its time, responds to key forms found in the broader area and seeks to provide a response that will reflect the design of emerging developments within this transitionary area.”<\/p>\n
Planning documents also claimed that the development would fit city policies regarding infill development and encouraging diversity of housing options, especially near central activity centres.<\/p>\n
