TOURISM Greater Geelong and the Bellarine (TGGB) has a new executive director, with Tracy Carter announced as the successful candidate for the role earlier today (Wednesday, December 14).<\/p>\n
Ms Carter, who had been acting as executive director following the departure of Brett Ince in October, has worked across most of TGGB, including visitor servicing,\u00a0industry development,\u00a0 membership, marketing, and communications.<\/p>\n
Her\u00a0career in the tourism industry began when she was 21 years old, sharing the many things to see and do in the region as a volunteer at the Visitor Information Centre in Market Square while studying a Tourism Management degree at RMIT University.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so honoured to take on this role and continue working in a region, with an industry and alongside a team I\u2019m inspired by every day,” she said.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s so much reason for optimism in this region and I\u2019m looking forward to being a part of driving Geelong and The Bellarine\u2019s evolution as a destination. From the Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre and Geelong Arts Centre to new accommodation developments, the 2026 Commonwealth Games and other incredible projects on the horizon \u2013 there\u2019s loads to be excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Carter will support the longstanding partnership between the TGGB board and the City of Greater Geelong Council, working to deliver on their strategic direction for the local visitor economy.<\/p>\n
In her 20 years with the organisation, she has played a significant role in transitioning Geelong Otway Tourism to TGGB in 2014 and in developing strategies as it has evolved into a driver of the visitor economy.<\/p>\n
She has led the marketing and visitor servicing functions as deputy executive director since 2018, implementing initiatives to position Geelong and The Bellarine in the hearts and minds of visitors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
