{"id":64048,"date":"2023-01-13T09:22:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-12T22:22:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/annual-fair-to-support-queenscliff-charity\/"},"modified":"2023-01-13T09:22:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-12T22:22:42","slug":"annual-fair-to-support-queenscliff-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/annual-fair-to-support-queenscliff-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual fair to support Queenscliff charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHILDREN\u2019S charity Cottage by the Sea is gearing up for its annual fair, which will be staged tomorrow (Saturday, January 14).<\/p>\n<p>The fair is the single biggest fundraising event for the Queenscliff-based organisation to help fund the programs of the cottage, which are all completely non-government funded.<\/p>\n<p>The cottage programs run in Queenscliff and off-site as far away as the Northern Territory, and teach vital life lessons to the children who participate.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_89758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89758\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-89758\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/Untitled-design-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-89758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Proceeds from the Cottage by the Sea Annual Fair go towards the charity\u2019s programs.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Founded in 1890, the cottage also offers respite holidays to children and families in need at Riptide Cottage, situated on the cottage grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Attractions at the fair include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Barbecue lunch<\/li>\n<li>Devonshire tea with views of The Rip<\/li>\n<li>Bacon and eggs breakfast<\/li>\n<li>Doughnuts<\/li>\n<li>Beef and gravy rolls<\/li>\n<li>Homemade cakes<\/li>\n<li>Cottage by the Sea\u2019s famous fruit and veg store<\/li>\n<li>Books<\/li>\n<li>Pots and plants<\/li>\n<li>Trash and treasure, and<\/li>\n<li>The opportunity to tour the cottage and learn about the charity\u2019s work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everything at the fair is donated and run by volunteers, with every dollar spent going to fund the children\u2019s programs throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>The Cottage by the Sea Annual Fair will be held on the cottage grounds at 25 Flinders Street, Queenscliff tomorrow from 9am-2pm.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/cottagebythesea.com.au\">cottagebythesea.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHILDREN\u2019S charity Cottage by the Sea is gearing up for its annual fair, which will be staged tomorrow (Saturday, January 14).
