{"id":64431,"date":"2023-02-04T08:59:34","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T21:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/geelong-jazz-soirees-summer-series-returns-to-geelong-botanic-gardens-this-saturday\/"},"modified":"2023-02-04T10:30:16","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T23:30:16","slug":"geelong-jazz-soirees-summer-series-returns-to-geelong-botanic-gardens-this-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/living\/geelong-jazz-soirees-summer-series-returns-to-geelong-botanic-gardens-this-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Geelong Jazz Soirees Summer Series returns to Geelong Botanic Gardens today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MUSIC fans are invited to pack a picnic and wine and listen to performances by the region&#8217;s finest jazz acts in a spectacular outdoor setting at Geelong Botanic Gardens today,<\/p>\n<p>The Geelong Jazz Soirees Summer Series is back for a third year, offering three outdoor music sessions including February 18 and 25.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers hope to build on the success of the 2022 series, which saw more 1,600 patrons from across Victoria attend the jazz series.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled with the support we&#8217;ve received from the wider Geelong community,&#8221; organiser Callum Watson said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_91344\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91344\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-91344\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/20210306_1457551_39444.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-91344\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Wayne Jury will perform alongside his jazz band to crowds this Saturday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s going to be another fantastic series of shows with a range of great music.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This Saturday will feature acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Wayne Jury performing alongside his jazz band.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne will be performing an entertaining selection of popular jazz and blues standards from the American songbook including a number of Sinatra favourites.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The surroundings are beautiful and I have the opportunity to make music with great musicians,&#8221; Mr Jury said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also get to share the music, and hopefully bring some joy to the people listening. Double happy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>February 18, will feature the Des Camm Jazz Band.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-91343\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/2021eventspicture21_39460.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Camm is a long-time favourite amongst local fans having led New Orleans-style jazz bands since 1965.
