Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Trent Sullivan encouraged community members to make a night of the entertainment, relaxing on Malop Street and enjoying the free entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s no better way to kick off the weekend than with an eclectic mix of music and entertainment, coupled with tasty food and drinks,&#8221; Mayor Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Join us for some fun and good vibes at Fridays After Work this month and enjoy the last of the warmer evenings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On March 24, and March 31, the initiative will combine with City&#8217;s Tastes of Central Geelong festival.<\/p>\n<p>March 24 will showcase roving entertainment from 5pm to 6.30pm followed by local favourite cover band Pineapple Head playing Crowded House covers from 6pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>March 31 evening entertainment will begin at 5pm to be followed by a performance from Lady Valentine Band between 6pm and 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Eddy Kontelj, chair of the council&#8217;s Arts, Live Entertainment and Hospitality portfolio said the council hoped the free Fridays After Work series will encourage local spending to benefit local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fridays After Work are just one of the many activations council is funding to drive people to Central Geelong, building on our Music in the City and Tastes of Central Geelong programs,&#8221; Cr Kontelj said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a vital economic hub that supports more than 27,000 jobs and holds a special place in Greater Geelong&#8217;s collective identity.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FINISH off your work week unwinding in Central Geelong, with free entertainment every Friday this month.
