	{"id":68452,"date":"2023-04-09T04:31:13","date_gmt":"2023-04-08T18:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=68452"},"modified":"2023-04-08T22:01:42","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T12:01:42","slug":"genu-to-merge-with-tasmanian-disability-provider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/genu-to-merge-with-tasmanian-disability-provider\/","title":{"rendered":"genU to merge with Tasmanian disability provider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG-based disability and aged care support provider genU will expand from regional Victoria to across the Bass Strait following a merger with Li-Ve Tasmania.<\/p>\n<p>Announced last week, the merger will see the two organisations now work through a detailed transition process until Li-Ve Tasmania officially becomes part of genU on July 1.<\/p>\n<p>genU will open Tasmanian offices and provide local leadership to cement what it describes as &#8220;its commitment and long-term interest in Tasmania&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Both organisations share a long history in providing high-quality, person-centred disability services within regional communities, and strong values and culture.<\/p>\n<p>genU chief executive officer Clare Amies said genU&#8217;s wide range of disability, aged care, employment and other services would provide new opportunities for Tasmanians living with disability.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through the combined strength of our organisations, we will be able to continue providing high-quality services and supports, as well as create pathways to benefit clients and provide greater career opportunities for staff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The benefit of local knowledge combined with national expertise, together with a shared commitment to empowering the people we support and building inclusive communities, will bring a greater breadth and depth to the services and support available to Tasmanian&#8217;s living with disability.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our immediate focus is on close communication and collaboration with all clients, staff and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition process and positive experience with genU, and we are really excited about working within Tasmanian communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Li-Ve Tasmania had been seeking a partnership to achieve the right size, service mix and diversification for its long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive officer Darren Mathewson said his organisation had undertaken detailed due diligence and directly engaged stakeholders to confirm the merger is in the best interests of all and will be successful for the long term.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In genU, a regional provider like us, we have identified a diverse, large and highly capable organisation that shares a passion for its people and has a growing presence across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Importantly, our Tasmanian disability support staff and services will continue to support our current participants, families and communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The united organisation will also be well-positioned to enhance existing services and accommodation and invest in new services.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am confident that this is the best decision to ensure a strong and successful future for our participants.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in Geelong, genU presently has a workforce of more than 3,400 spread across its many sites in regional Victoria and one in South Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG-based disability and aged care support provider genU will expand from regional Victoria to across the Bass Strait following a merger with Li-Ve Tasmania.
