GEELONG’s most outstanding young community members have been recognised for their contributions across the region at the City’s annual Geelong Youth Awards.<\/p>\n
Celebrated at the end of last month at the Geelong West Town Hall, The City of Greater Geelong presented awards in 10 categories, recognising locals aged between 12 and 25 in the areas of leadership, cultural awareness, community work, sport, arts, music and youth development.<\/p>\n
Selected from 89 total nominations, the 2023 winners are:<\/p>\n
Active Achievement – Dylan Logan<\/p>\n
Arts and Music – Kai D’Orsa<\/p>\n
Citizenship Group \u2013 Belmont Venturer Unit Ukraine Fundraiser \u2013 Group members Kaitlyn Biro, Angus Taylor, Liam Biro, Miri Barnes, Alistair Breaky and Will Cole<\/p>\n
Citzenship Individual – Arhlia Cvetkovski<\/p>\n
Cultural Awareness – Moo Thay Wyar Blue<\/p>\n
Inclusion – Sarbjeet Singh<\/p>\n
Inspiration – Jonathon Kelly<\/p>\n
Leadership – Breanna Beckley<\/p>\n
Unsung Hero – Jasmine Van Der Muellen<\/p>\n
Volunteer – Lottie Hughes<\/p>\n
Special mentions were also given to Odi Evans, Nic Robinson and Abby Sleep for their inspirational work to make Geelong a better place.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong mayor Trent Sullivvan congratulated all award recipients, and said it was vital for the city to acknowledge the outstanding role the region’s youth have within the community.<\/p>\n
“The awards provide well-deserved acknowledgement to the many young people who have made outstanding contributions across a variety of areas in Greater Geelong,” Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken also toasted the successful winners and all the 89 total nominees for their commitment to Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
“As a Council, we’re enormously proud of the inspiring work that our region’s young people do to make our region such a great place to live,” Cr Aitken said.<\/p>\n
“It’s always exciting when we see young people around us stepping up and making a positive contribution\u2026. I hope that the stories of our category winners provide inspiration for other young people in the Geelong community.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
