{"id":69196,"date":"2023-04-23T04:00:20","date_gmt":"2023-04-22T18:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=69196"},"modified":"2023-04-20T10:58:14","modified_gmt":"2023-04-20T00:58:14","slug":"geelongs-mrs-galaxy-ready-to-strut-her-stuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/geelongs-mrs-galaxy-ready-to-strut-her-stuff\/","title":{"rendered":"Geelong&#8217;s Mrs Galaxy ready to strut her stuff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG&#8217;S Mrs Galaxy representative says she is excited to showcase her talents alongside some of the country&#8217;s brightest women next month.<\/p>\n<p>Phoebe Stephens will don the sash on May 6 at this year&#8217;s Mrs Galaxy Australia 2023 pageant in Bankstown, NSW on May 6.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Stephens, who said it would be a great honour to win this year&#8217;s pageant, began her pageant journey in November last year, following an interview which involved answering a series of questions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/20230225_121023_25948.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"386\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ms Stephens also volunteered her time at this year&#8217;s Pako Festa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;I was a bit shocked to find out that I was going to be Mrs Geelong Galaxy, but I decided to jump in head first and give it my all.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I answered a lot of interview questions, and shared some fun facts about myself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For example, I was the Wardrobe in my ballet school&#8217;s production of Beauty and the Beast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then I had a telephone interview, and then I found out I got a place in the competition in December.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pageant includes five areas of competition: fashionwear, swimwear, evening wear, photogenic and interview.<\/p>\n<p>In each category, Ms Stephens will be marked out of 20, but she can also be awarded bonus points for raising money for the pageant&#8217;s chosen charity and her appearances.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/IMG-20230305-WA0008_76464.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phoebe Stephens at the Geelong River Run.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If Ms Stephens wins next month, she would get the opportunity to compete in the Galaxy International Pageant being held in Orlando, Florida from August 23-27.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Stephens said if she could achieve this personal goal, she would host a gala and fundraise for a local community organisation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am competing because it is something completely outside of my comfort zone and I wanted to challenge myself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am also keen to meet new people from across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has given me the opportunity to get into my community a bit more; I got to volunteer for Pako Festa and the Kardinia Easter Extravaganza.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also worked up the courage to donate blood for the first time at Lifeblood Geelong Donor Centre.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/IMG-20230321-WA0000_47671.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"409\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ms Stephens chose to have a bake sale at her workplace to raise funds for this year&#8217;s chosen charity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;It would be a great honour and opportunity to win the pageant, but rather than winning being my driving force, I am using the competition as an opportunity for self-improvement. I already feel much more confident and outgoing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Australia Galaxy Pageants has chosen to partner with mental health service provider batyr.
