{"id":70478,"date":"2023-04-28T04:00:25","date_gmt":"2023-04-27T18:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=70478"},"modified":"2023-04-27T16:20:22","modified_gmt":"2023-04-27T06:20:22","slug":"disco-for-fundraiser-at-baie-wines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/living\/disco-for-fundraiser-at-baie-wines\/","title":{"rendered":"Disco for fundraiser at BAIE Wines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bellarine Peninsula producer BAIE Wines has launched a new masterclass pairing wine appreciation with a disco theme in support of an important cause.<\/p>\n<p>The family-owned and run small-batch winery is hoping to raise $8,000 for a Geelong-based not-for-profit Offpsring while teaching guests how to buy, sip and talk about wine.<\/p>\n<p>To be held tomorrow (Saturday, April 29) at the winery&#8217;s cellar door, &#8220;Disco Made Me Do It&#8221; will see guests taste eight wines with matched canapes and discover the basics on how to buy, sip and talk about wine, with every level of wine knowledge and experience welcome.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101212\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101212\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-101212 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/Disco2_42837-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1682481035\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-101212\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Following the tasting, a DJ will spin some classic disco tunes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A DJ will then launch into some classic disco tunes so guests can hit the dancefloor and boogie on down.<\/p>\n<p>BAIE Wines co-owner Nadine Kuc said community was at the heart of everything for the winery and that it was a great privilege to work with Offspring in its fight against human trafficking and modern slavery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Founder Kristi is truly a rare and courageous human, who after spending time in India and witnessing women and children being bought, sold and traded, and stripped of their most basic human rights, made thedecision to leave everything she knew and return to India in order to bring about change in the lives of survivors.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101211\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101211\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-101211 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/04\/BAIEwines_95288-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1682481035\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-101211\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BAIE wines will donate $20 from each ticket to Offspring.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Offspring was born and it provided a safe space while also equipping the women and children who had been rescued with trauma support, educational and vocational skills. It&#8217;sreally quite extraordinary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Offspring founder and chief executive officer Kristi Davidson said her organisation had always had a strong vision of raising awareness and education around modern slavery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We get excited when we have the privilege of partnering with businesses who are passionate about wanting to help us in that and be part of creating change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to working together with BAIE Wines in sharing our story and encouraging people to understand that they can literally &#8216;be the change&#8217; in helping to stop modern slavery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Disco Made Me Do It will be held at BAIE Wines, 120 McDermott Road, Curlewis from 1pm tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>The masterclass is an 18+ and LBGTIQ+ friendly event.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $120 per person with $20 from every ticket sold going directly to Offspring.
