{"id":72033,"date":"2023-05-11T09:46:24","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T23:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=72033"},"modified":"2023-05-11T09:46:24","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T23:46:24","slug":"shall-we-dance-to-enthral-at-costa-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/shall-we-dance-to-enthral-at-costa-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Shall We Dance to enthral at Costa Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Geelong Symphony Orchestra (GSO) will wow audiences with Shall We Dance, a performance including works rarely shown in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>Conductor Mario Dobernig will lead the GSO at Costa Hall, directing players at the concert on Saturday, May 13 to &#8220;dance from classical ballet to flirt with a Spanish gypsy and even an encounter with Death himself&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Costa Hall will provide the perfect venue for this matinee concert from 3-5pm,&#8221; GSO president Wendy Galloway said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been working hard on this arrangement for quite some time now, and the orchestra is excited to present it to Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We do try and attract families who might not usually attend classic music concerts, and we hope that they come along and try it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Australian Youth Classical Music 2022 Competition winner Lily Bryant will join the orchestra for a thrilling arrangement of melodies from French composer Georges Bizet&#8217;s Carmen.<\/p>\n<p>The full line-up of melodies being played include &#8220;Prelude \u00e0 l&#8217;apr\u00e8s-midi d&#8217;un faune&#8221; by Claude Debussy, &#8220;Danse Macabre&#8221; by Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns, &#8220;Carmen Fantasy&#8221; by Bizet\/arr. Borne, &#8220;Tchaikovsky Waltz&#8221; from Eugene Onegin, and the Tchaikovsky Ballet Suite from Swan Lake.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/05\/1010001_28802.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Geelong Symphony Orchestra returns to Costa Hall this Saturday to perform Shall We Dance.
