{"id":74338,"date":"2023-06-08T04:00:26","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T18:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=74338"},"modified":"2023-06-08T09:26:38","modified_gmt":"2023-06-07T23:26:38","slug":"entries-open-for-2024-geelong-calendar-photography-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/entries-open-for-2024-geelong-calendar-photography-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Entries open for 2024 Geelong Calendar Photography Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong is encouraging local amateur and professional photographers to show their creativity by submitting an entry in the 2024 Geelong Calendar Photography Competition.<\/p>\n<p>The annual competition, which opened last week, and will see people of all ages and backgrounds photograph what makes the Greater Geelong region unique and diverse through their own lens.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Trent Sullivan said that the Geelong Calendar Photography Competition helps to raise the profile of Geelong and the world class natural environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The popular photography competition is all about celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of our region,&#8221; Mayor Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last year our competition attracted over 1,000 entries with the winning photo a stunning aerial photograph of Corio Bay by Highton resident Lasith Merinpanayagam.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Melissa Cadwell, Creativity and Culture portfolio chair, said the annual calendar was a fantastic way of championing local photographers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our annual calendar photography competition provides residents with an opportunity to celebrate and share our local landscapes, seascapes and urban places in a way that can only be truly appreciated visually,&#8221; Cr Cadwell said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We live in such a beautiful part of the world and our annual calendar photography competition is for residents with a passion for photography, to get out and about.<\/p>\n<p>There are so many good submissions, it&#8217;s hard selecting the final 13, but thankfully the community helps us by voting for the best ones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Competition entries will close on August 11 and then the public will vote for the featured 13 calendar photos in September.<\/p>\n<p>More than 135,000 of the calendars will be printed and posted to local households thereafter in November.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the 2024 Geelong Calendar Photography Competition visit: <a href=\"http:\/\/geelong.link\/calendarphotocomp\">geelong.link\/calendarphotocomp<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong is encouraging local amateur and professional photographers to show their creativity by submitting an entry in the 2024 Geelong Calendar Photography Competition.
