Introducing young people to the apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities available in Greater Geelong, a networking opportunity for individuals to meet apprenticeship providers, and a final session directed at small to medium employers considering hiring an apprentice or trainee.<\/p>\n
Workforce Australia Local Jobs Employment Facilitator for the Barwon region Tracey Jeffery it was great to partner with the City of Greater Geelong to provide an event of this kind.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs one of Geelong\u2019s leading educational providers it\u2019s exciting for The Gordon\u2019s Local Jobs and Skilling the Bay programs to be playing a part in helping young people find their way to a career path that has the potential to set them up for life,\u201d Ms Jeffery said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all benefit from finding employment that provides a sense of purpose and fulfilment and my hope is this forum has sparked a genuine passion in those attending.\u201d<\/p>\n
Councillor Jim Mason said local businesses also stood to benefit from the forum.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe evening was really useful in helping owners of small to medium businesses, along with sole traders, understand the opportunities, benefits, responsibilities, and process of taking on an apprentice or trainee,\u201d Cr Mason said.<\/p>\n
