Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But planners argued in their submissions that changing circumstances meant the city should consider providing an exception for their proposal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It may not be ideal to use neighbouring properties as a benchmark for this development.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The previous development was completed more than 15 years ago, and since then, significant changes have taken place in the building industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Pursuing a similar development today may not be financially viable, considering the current costs and expected returns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our primary focus is to ensure that our clients&#8217; needs are met while also adhering to all relevant regulations and standards set by the council.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Designers also indicated they made adjustments during the planning process which included minimising &#8220;overall bulk&#8221; of buildings and shifting driveways to reduce impacts on neighbouring pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>The city is advertising the plans until Thursday, June 29.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AN EMPTY Norlane house block would be developed to host 12 townhouses under a planning proposal lodged with the City of Greater Geelong.
