{"id":76806,"date":"2023-06-26T04:00:18","date_gmt":"2023-06-25T18:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=76806"},"modified":"2023-06-23T15:20:51","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T05:20:51","slug":"giving-day-doubles-the-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/giving-day-doubles-the-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Giving Day doubles the love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Mums is lauding community members for raising more than $125,000 on its Giving Day.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the June 15 fundraiser will assist Geelong Mums and its volunteers provide local mothers with essential items including cots, prams and warm clothes to give children the best start in life.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Mums head of operation and impact Julia Roache said the organisation was rapt with the community response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt went really well and are very thankful for the community\u2019s support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so important to give.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe need for our material aid is vital and is constantly growing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the support of the community we can\u2019t do what we do.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wouldn\u2019t be able to keep our doors open or continue to take in all the donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the support that we\u2019ve gotten with our Giving Day, we wouldn\u2019t be able to exist, so we are very thankful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Roache said donations to the Giving Day will remain open until June 30 in the hope of pushing fundraising the tally up to $150,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve actually left the donations open, and they will be doubled by our amazing partners until $150,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve still got about $24,000 or so to go till we hit that mark and are hopeful we can get there before the end of the month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All financial donations will continue to be doubled by partners including Decujba, L\u2019Or\u00e9al Group, Gearon Civil and the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Donations provide support in multiple ways:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $32 can keep two babies snug and safe this winter with cosy bedding<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $59 can provide two babies or children with a bundle full of warm clothing<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $123 can provide two car restraints &#8211; a safe way to travel, and<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $201 can provide two cots and mattresses &#8211; a safe and warm place for a baby to sleep, dream and play.<\/p>\n<p>To donate to the Geelong Mums Giving Day appeal, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geelongmums.org\/\"><strong>www.geelongmums.org\/<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All donations are tax deductible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Mums is lauding community members for raising more than $125,000 on its Giving Day.
