{"id":78207,"date":"2023-07-15T04:00:27","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T18:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=78207"},"modified":"2023-07-13T10:33:46","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T00:33:46","slug":"renovations-to-pave-the-way-for-increased-programming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/renovations-to-pave-the-way-for-increased-programming\/","title":{"rendered":"Renovations to pave the way for increased programming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong has welcomed the ability to provide more programs at Geelong West Neighbourhood House and Geelong Rainbow Inc following the completion of renovations to the Autumn Street base.<\/p>\n<p>The $200,000 project, which was delivered with the assistance of the Victorian Government in May, included the development of two permanent, sound-proofed bookable spaces and the renewal of the exterior toilet.<\/p>\n<p>The additions to the interior layout of the venue in particular, will allow for larger groups of people to come through and use the venue in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Geelong West Neighbourhood House offers creative arts, health and wellbeing, self-sufficiency and sustainability classes and workshops for locals in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The venue is also a base for the Geelong Rainbow Inc, a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating awareness, support and enabling connection for members of the LGBTIQA+ community.<\/p>\n<p>City of Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan said the renovations would support both groups in delivering additional courses and programs to meet community demand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Geelong West Neighbourhood House has played a vital role in the community since it was formed in 2009,&#8221; Mayor Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The city is delighted with the support of the Victorian Government in developing the centre to meet the increasing need for low-cost classes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The programs support our residents in this region to find a healthy life balance and increase fitness, while participating in a variety of creative arts activities.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Geelong Christine Couzens also welcomed the developments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This new interior renovation will enable the Geelong West Neighbourhood House and Geelong Rainbow to run programs in a more user-friendly space,&#8221; Ms Couzens said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to support the Geelong West Neighbourhood House to continue to provide the Geelong community with activities and a valued local meeting place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the programs on offer at Geelong West Neighourhood House, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/gwnh.org.au\/\">gwnh.org.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong has welcomed the ability to provide more programs at Geelong West Neighbourhood House and Geelong Rainbow Inc following the completion of renovations to the Autumn Street base.
