FORMER Committee for Geelong chief Rebecca Casson is the newest independent director of the Infrastructure Victoria board.<\/p>\n
The state government appointed Ms Casson to the seven-member panel that prepares Victoria’s 30-year infrastructure strategy, provides advice on specific infrastructure matters and publishes research on infrastructure-related issues.<\/p>\n
The experienced leader left the Committee for Geelong at the end of 2018 to become CEO of the Master Builders Association of Victoria, a position she held until the end of last year.<\/p>\n
She is presently chair of the Building Industry Consultative Council, president of construction worker entitlement body Incolink and a director of the Victorian Skills Authority.<\/p>\n
Her other experience includes a host of board and committee roles, including with the state government, Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, and independent statutory bodies, and senior project development roles with the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure Victoria board chair Jim Miller welcomed the appointment last month.<\/p>\n
“Rebecca Casson’s experience in infrastructure projects, policy development and implementation of change will be valuable as Infrastructure Victoria progresses the next update of Victoria’s 30-year infrastructure strategy.<\/p>\n
“I also acknowledge and thank previous directors Ann Sherry and Margaret Gardner who made significant contributions to Infrastructure Victoria’s achievements during their terms over the past eight years.”<\/p>\n
State Treasurer Tim Pallas agreed: “Rebecca is respected across business and government and has tremendous knowledge and expertise to bring to this new role”.<\/p>\n
