Show dates locked in for 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Royal Geelong Show has announced its dates for 2023 with the return of an event favourite to begin the largest regional show in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Show president Tom McCann said he and the committee were excited to announce this year\u2019s show will take over the Geelong Showgrounds from October 19-22.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re absolutely pumped and extremely fired up to put on another great event this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got some learning outcomes that we\u2019re addressing from last year\u2019s show return, after missing out on 2020 and 2021, but we\u2019re looking forward to the opportunity that comes with the event\u2019s second year back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr McCann confirmed &#8220;Jack\u2019s Day&#8221; will return to the show this year, with show-goers to receive free entry on Thursday, October 19.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The exhilarating monster trucks will return to this year&#8217;s Geelong Show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jack\u2019s Day was held for the first time in 2022 to honour one of the Royal Geelong Show\u2019s longest serving councillors and volunteers Jack Selvidge, who passed away in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn recognition of him and the spirit that he brought to the event, we hold the day on the Thursday predominantly for school kids and disability groups to get a chance to look at the all the pavilions and the setup as well,\u201d Mr McCann said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe free entry allows us to target other groups on our quietest day and provide them the chance to enjoy what the show offers.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_79279\" Show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Geelong Show in 2023 will feature a jam-packed schedule of fair-style competitions, arena entertainment, vehicle and machine displays, live entertainment, Harry&#8217;s Farmyard for children to interact with animals, an array of showbags, and carnival rides.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of the favourites are coming back this year such as the monster trucks, the fireworks, and some other new events will aim to highlight Geelong\u2019s community feel,\u201d Mr McCann said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in talks at the moment with the CFA, so they might be back this year as well as other community organisations, and our new sheep event will take place on the main arena to showcase the best working dogs our region has to
