Photos: VINNIE VAN OORSCHOT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sharks president Chad Dunscombe said Mannix&#8217;s visit provided a real-life example of what is possible for juniors based in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s an incredible opportunity for the kids to meet someone like Emily, it can inspire anyone to aspire to be the best player they can,&#8221; Dunscombe said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s a local Geelong netballer from St Leonards, she&#8217;s played at Drysdale and Bell Park and look at where she is today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who knows? We could see a Sharks player one day join the Vixens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 592px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/07\/IMG_0908_33984.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"395\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mannix ran through drills for two hours with the junior netballers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mannix said she pridds herself on visiting local clubs whenever she can, particularly clubs in regional areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love visiting clubs, particularly ones from Armstrong Creek. I&#8217;m from a regional town, and just giving girls hope of making it to the professional level,&#8221; Mannix said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was never the best player in the team, which is what I try to preach to young netballers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a prime example of a regional kid that worked hard, wasn&#8217;t the best, had a crack, and made it to the big time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/07\/IMG_1116_34047.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"533\" height=\"356\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mannix conducted a Q&amp;A about her life and playing career.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr Dunscombe said the club&#8217;s netball ranks have grown exponentially in the past two years, expanding from a handful of players in 2021 to nine junior teams competing each week from Under 11s up to Under 15s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ARMSTRONG Creek Sharks Football Netball Club junior netballers got a rare opportunity to meet and learn from one of Australia&#8217;s best netballer on Monday.
