Proponents have applied with the City of Greater Geelong to build a single-storey building, car parks and internal roads at 29 Evans Road for the planned development.<\/p>\n
The business owners would relocate an existing store at Roslyn Road, Highton to the new site, with their current home to be redeveloped.<\/p>\n
The business would be open from 5.30am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and start at 6am on Sundays.<\/p>\n
In their submission, planners argue the plan has been designed to mitigate impacts on neighbours.<\/p>\n
“The proposal would not result in off-site amenity impacts or cause material detriment to any party.<\/p>\n
“The siting of the proposed works are logical and practical giving regard to the location and operation of the existing site.<\/p>\n

“The design solution presented in this application is the result of a comprehensive site analysis, reflecting the opportunities and constraints of the site. The design solution has been carefully crafted by a skilled architect in order to respond positively to site constraints.”<\/p>\n
The proposal has drawn objections from community members concerned about its impacts on congestion at the high-traffic corner that also fronts Torquay Road.<\/p>\n
An existing building on the block had been most recently used as a medical centre and office space and was demolished last year.<\/p>\n
The land had also been subdivided into three sites ahead of a sale late last year, but the proposal aims to use the block in its entirety.<\/p>\n
