	{"id":82089,"date":"2023-09-03T04:20:24","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T18:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=82089"},"modified":"2023-08-31T12:31:24","modified_gmt":"2023-08-31T02:31:24","slug":"mount-duneed-village-eyes-2024-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/mount-duneed-village-eyes-2024-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"Mount Duneed Village eyes 2024 opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PROGRESS is on track at Mount Duneed Village, with the complex on the western side of Armstrong Creek expected to open from the middle of next year.<\/p>\n<p>Empire Properties is constructing the $55 million project in the centre of Villawood Properties&#8217; Armstrong Mount Duneed development.<\/p>\n<p>The shopping centre component of the complex is almost entirely leased, and will be anchored by a Champions IGA with medical\/dentist and Chemist Warehouse facilities.<\/p>\n<p>It will also host a Saltwater Learn to Swim pool centre, Omega Daycare, hairdresser, caf\u00e9, and pizza and Indian restaurants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_114769\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-114769\" style=\"width: 581px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-114769\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/12.png?_t=1693448786\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"343\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-114769\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tenants will include a Saltwater Learn to Swim pool centre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The village will include 41 apartments and 52 townhouses, and is located across the street from the Bunjil&#8217;s Nest adventure playground, Club Armstrong caf\u00e9\/gym\/pool facility, the Poa Banyul Community Hub and Mirripoa Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>Villawood executive director Rory Costelloe and Empire Properties managing director Tony Masa visisted the site last week.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Costelloe said the new precinct was a pioneering project with new levels of amenity, service access and residential housing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will provide residents more choice with close, ready access to services and facilities people need every day, including later in the day such as restaurants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_114770\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-114770\" style=\"width: 584px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-114770 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/11.png?_t=1693448845\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"364\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-114770\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An IGA supermarket will anchor the shopping centre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These will be within easy walking distance, which is the modern way, and provide increased choice for Armstrong residents without having to cross the busy Surf Coast Highway.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The centre is also pioneering medium density living in the greenfields, with the first four-level project in the Geelong growth corridor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a forerunner of what we will see in the new Batesford and Lovely Banks growth corridors, where some 18,000 blocks are planned for Geelong&#8217;s north and west in coming years as the region gears up to grow to a population of half a million.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Masa said the neighbourhood activity centre, at the corner of Sovereign and Unity drives, would complement a thriving precinct.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_114771\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-114771\" style=\"width: 593px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-114771 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/10.png?_t=1693448901\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"574\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-114771\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The village includes 41 apartments and 52 townhouses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Things are moving well, we&#8217;re 90 per cent leased and we&#8217;re now building the shopping centre now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The townhouses are going well and we&#8217;re planning to hand over the apartment building around mid-year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The townhouses will start settling in the second half of 2024, similar to when the retail centre will open.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mount Duneed Village will also host green and glass features and fixtures, attractive planters and pergolas.<\/p>\n<p>Construction has provided sbout 60 construction jobs, and Mount Duneed Village will employ 80 people once it fully opens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PROGRESS is on track at Mount Duneed Village, with the complex on the western side of Armstrong Creek expected to open from the middle of next year.
