The pre-school\u2019s donation also helped Mr Herrick\u2019s 2023 fundraising efforts surpass the $40,000 mark, the highest amount of money raised to date for Ride The Bellarine for SIDS.<\/p>\n
Lara Lake held a week of fundraising efforts, featuring almost 200 children riding laps of the schoolyard in support of Red Nose.<\/p>\n
The preschool raised more than $2,500 for the cause, the largest single organisation contribution made to the fundraiser.<\/p>\n
Lara Lake Community Preschool teacher Sam Hardy said when the “Ride Bellarine for SIDS” event organisers reached out to ask for fundraising support, the school was quick to accept.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought we could raise a decent amount of money, but we were not expecting to raise what we did,\u201d Ms Hardy said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe kids loved the challenge of riding, plenty of students were practicing on the weekends and in their own time.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was also a good chance to have those conversations with families regarding SIDS, but also with the kids in an age-appropriate way.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust explaining to them that some babies are born sleeping, and some are born sick, and some babies don\u2019t get to grow the way that other babies do.\u201d<\/p>\n
