GEEELONGPORT has achieved a five-star GRESB rating for a third consecutive year, putting the business in the top 20 per cent globally for its commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n

Previously known as the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark, the GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment is a robust assessment tool which assesses environmental, social and governance progress against its peers.<\/p>\n

Among the key initiatives which contributed to GeelongPort’s 97 out of 100 GRESB score was reducing its Scope 2 emissions to zero by introducing a power purchase agreement (PPA) in partnership with Barwon Water and Barwon Health.<\/p>\n

As a result of the PPA, GeelongPort was able to source 100 per cent renewable energy from a local wind farm.<\/p>\n

Other key achievements include the completion of the GeelongPort Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and the implementation of programs to improve diversity, equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n

GeelongPort chief executive officer Brett Winter said consistent hard work from staff had contributed to the GRESB achievement.<\/p>\n

“GeelongPort takes its Environmental, Social and Governance responsibility very seriously and have developed strategies, policies and frameworks to support our goal of becoming Australia’s most sustainable port.<\/p>\n

“Our team works incredibly hard to ensure our business operates at a high standard when it comes to our ESG practices and I’m very proud of this third consecutive five-star GRESB rating.”<\/p>\n

Out of all 681 GRESB reporting companies, this year’s score placed GeelongPort in the top 70 worldwide.<\/p>\n
