MILLIONS of Australians will head to the polls tomorrow (Saturday, October 14) to vote in a referendum about whether Australia will establish a Voice to Parliament.<\/p>\n

The referendum will ask voters whether to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.<\/p>\n

Early voting opened in Victoria on Monday last week.<\/p>\n

As of Monday this week, 2.2 million people have voted at an early voting centre, and 1.9 million people have applied for a postal vote.<\/p>\n

Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers said early voting centres would remain open until today (Friday, October 13) for people who cannot make it to a pollng place tomorrow.<\/p>\n

“If you’re busy on Saturday or aren’t certain of your circumstances, then you need to plan where and when you’ll be able to cast your vote.<\/p>\n

“Voting in a referendum is compulsory.”<\/p>\n
