{"id":86908,"date":"2023-11-11T01:19:51","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T14:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=86908"},"modified":"2023-11-09T11:30:38","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T00:30:38","slug":"local-projects-lauded-in-national-architecture-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/real-estate\/local-projects-lauded-in-national-architecture-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Local projects lauded in National Architecture Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two outstanding buildings in the Geelong region have received the highest praise in this year&#8217;s National Architecture Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Announced earlier this month, the awards run by the Australian Institute of Architects highlight Australia&#8217;s most innovative, sustainable and inspirational homes, commercial and community buildings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/SpringCreekRdFar_21887.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"903\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/SpringCreekRdFar_25059.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"505\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The AIA says the 2023 edition of the awards particularly showcases the exemplary work being done in the nation&#8217;s regional areas.<\/p>\n<p>This is typified by the National Award for Residential Architecture &#8211; Houses (New) going to Spring Creek Road Farm House, Bannockburn by Architect Brew Koch; and AB House in Barwon Heads by Office Mi-Ji winning the Colorbond Award for Steel Architecture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/08_7248_resnew_ABHo_10905.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/02_7248_resnew_ABHo_71854.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Built in a paddock in the Golden Plains, Spring Creek Road Farm House was one of three winners in its category.<\/p>\n<p>The judging panels&#8217;s citation noted the building was &#8220;tucked in among working farmland&#8221; and &#8220;looks, from a distance, like a piece of farm infrastructure&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But as you get closer, it becomes apparent that something else entirely is at play.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/03_7248_resnew_ABHo_30340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/04_7248_resnew_ABHo_93272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sitting on a modest, off-grid footprint, this home is a lesson in providing just enough: just enough space, just enoughncomfort, just enough light, and \u2013 with its carefully curated views \u2013 just enough aspect.<\/p>\n<p>AB House is a perfect example of a beach houses with the right mix of freedom and ambition to allow a relatively modest budget to shine.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two outstanding buildings in the Geelong region have received the highest praise in this year&#8217;s National Architecture Awards.
