GRAIN growers in southern NSW and Victoria will soon benefit from increased competition in the export market, with CHS Broadbent announcing plans for a new 80,000 metric tonne bulk grain export terminal in Geelong.<\/p>\n
Owned and operated by CHS Broadbent, construction on the five-hectare site is set to commence in 2024.<\/p>\n
The facility will feature advanced road and rail unloading capabilities and cutting-edge grain handling technology, ensuring efficient vessel loading and fast turnaround times.<\/p>\n
This development introduces more competitive options and direct export market access for Australian growers.<\/p>\n
Managing Director Steve Broadbent said the export terminal would deliver value.<\/p>\n
“Quality service to farmers is at the core of everything we do at CHS Broadbent,” Mr Broadbent said.<\/p>\n
“The addition of an export terminal to our supply chain service will see further value delivered to growers, right back to the farm gate.<\/p>\n
“The terminal will be designed with an annual export capacity of 1.5 million metric tonnes.<\/p>\n
“In an average year we project we will export around 1 million metric tonnes which equates to approximately 13 turns per year.<\/p>\n
“We’re excited to bring our fast turnaround times, amazing staff, local knowledge and global connections to Australia’s newest grain export terminal when we start exporting from the terminal.”<\/p>\n
The project’s initiation follows a land sale agreement between CHS Broadbent and Midway Limited for a five-hectare section of the Midway Limited site at North Shore, Geelong.<\/p>\n
CHS Broadbent board Chairman Brian Schouvieller highlighted the strategic significance of the Geelong location.<\/p>\n
