Legendary US rock band Dinosaur Jr. is headed to Geelong next month to headline the second instalment of Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree.<\/p>\n

The festival will mark the band’s first performance in Australia in seven years.<\/p>\n

Dinosaur Jr. has released some of the most influential albums of the past 40 years and will perform the entirety of its seminal 1993 record, Where You Been.<\/p>\n

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the ten-track grunge classic carries some of the band’s most enduring tunes.<\/p>\n

A set of songs from the band’s extensive 12 studio album catalogue will follow.<\/p>\n

But Dinosaur Jr. form only part of Tent Pole’s carefully curated line-up of revered and rising stars.<\/p>\n

After its successful debut last year, the festival will feature ten artists across two stages for a musical event that spans an array of genres and eras.<\/p>\n

Hugely influential Scottish rockers Mogwai are on the bill.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Known for their innovation and legendary live shows, the band has released several critically acclaimed albums over their 25-year career and their most recent album, As the Love Continues, hit number one in the UK.<\/p>\n

Calexico will also bring its unique sound \u2013 described by some as ‘desert noir’ \u2013 to the Tent Pole stage.<\/p>\n

Fusing the dusty sounds of the American Southwest with 60s surf rock, cool jazz and Latin influences, Calexico promises audiences an immersive listening experience.<\/p>\n

Joining them on the bill are some of Melbourne’s best rock bands.<\/p>\n

Audiences can expect exhilarating performances from Cash Savage and the Last Drinks and indie rock band RVG, while five-piece punk rockers CIVIC will deliver their brand of masterfully controlled chaos.<\/p>\n

The line-up also includes the incredible emerging talents of The Belair Lip Bombs, Delivery, Al Matcott and Our Carlson.<\/p>\n

More than just a jamboree, Tent Pole boasts interactive installations, a variety of food vendors, shaded chillout areas and music lovers can pursue a wide range of records and band merch at the festival’s curated marketplace.<\/p>\n

The one-day event is family-friendly, and attendees can try their hand at a variety of games and activities designed for friends, families and music fans to relax together.<\/p>\n

People of all ages are welcome to attend the festival and entry for children under the age of 12 is free.<\/p>\n
