CITY OF Greater Geelong is seeking friendly community members to become tourism volunteers at its Geelong Visitor Information Centre and at The Carousel.<\/p>\n

Geelong and Bellarine Visitor Information Services volunteers are the first points of contact for those visiting the region, ensuring tourists can get the most out of Greater Geelong and the Bellarine.<\/p>\n

They can happily answer any questions, offer directions and provide maps and brochures.<\/p>\n

Mayor Trent Sullivan said the team was looking for more community members to connect and promote the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only does volunteering make an invaluable contribution to the city and the community, but it provides social benefits for those involved and the chance to give something back to the community in which they live,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur volunteers are proud locals who are passionate about their backyard and are happy to showcase Geelong and the region to our visitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are interested in people and would love to pass your love of Geelong and The Bellarine, volunteering with us could be for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

30-year volunteer Sandra Lovell has lived in Geelong her whole life and said she loves sharing her tips with visitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an ad in the paper for the first intake of volunteers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had just finished playing tennis and was wondering what I was going to do on a Tuesday and thought that volunteering sounded perfect.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favourite thing about volunteering is meeting people and helping them.\u201d<\/p>\n
