{"id":91470,"date":"2024-02-22T08:55:13","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T21:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/ashbury-boulevard-reserve-opens\/"},"modified":"2024-02-22T08:56:44","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T21:56:44","slug":"ashbury-boulevard-reserve-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/ashbury-boulevard-reserve-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashbury Boulevard Reserve opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EARLIER this month, Asbury residents and their families and friends gathered at a community event to celebrate the official opening of the Armstrong Creek estate&#8217;s newest park, the Ashbury Boulevard Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>The underwater-themed event featured plenty of activities from the Come and Sea marquee with its popular silent disco and the chance to meet a mermaid and pose for a photo with her, to roving entertainment around the Reserve including jellyfish, sea horses, the Bubble Pirates and even a Sea Creature on Stilts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_128581\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-128581\" style=\"width: 588px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-128581 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/IMG_0489_77814.jpg?_t=1708552445\" alt=\"\" width=\"588\" height=\"392\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-128581\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The park&#8217;s opening had an underwater theme.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Attendees could also try their hand at sea-themed crafts including sand art and seashell painting, or have their faces painted with underwater inspired designs.<\/p>\n<p>The Chill Out Zone provided the perfect place for anyone keen to indulge in a little time out, grab some pizza, sausages, ice-cream and snowcones and relax on deck chair under an umbrella, while more competitive eventgoers took the opportunity to challenge friends and neighbours in a round or two of lawn games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EARLIER this month, Asbury residents and their families and friends gathered at a community event to celebrate the official opening of the Armstrong Creek estate&#8217;s newest park, the Ashbury Boulevard Reserve.
