{"id":91543,"date":"2024-02-27T04:00:14","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T17:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=91543"},"modified":"2024-02-22T11:36:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T00:36:31","slug":"annual-pro-am-reaching-new-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/annual-pro-am-reaching-new-heights\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Pro Am reaching new heights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE biggest event of the year for the Geelong Golf Club is getting even bigger with a record cash pot up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>The MMD Geelong 9-Hole Pro Am on Sunday, March 10 will feature a full 176-player field featuring a mix of professional, amateur, and social players all competing for a share $15,000 on the day \u2013 the largest amount to date for the club.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 569px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/02\/IMG_1005_46028.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"569\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geelong Golf Club assistant pro Storm Ord and amateur\/former Pro Am winner Max Christie at Geelong Golf Club.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club has always tagged the Pro Am as the showcase event since its inception a few years ago, but this year we&#8217;ve found ourselves in a wonderful position thanks to our sponsors,&#8221; Geelong Golf Club venue manager, Paul Christie said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s exciting for the club and it&#8217;s golf here in Geelong that we can continue growing the Pro Am so it be bigger and better every year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Already confirmed for the Pro Am are Tour-level players Jack Murdoch, Steven Jones, Josh Younger, and Cameron John leading the field across Geelong Golf Club&#8217;s nine-hole course.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Christie confirmed spectators are welcome to attend and view some of the region&#8217;s best golfing talents for free, with no admission fee attached to entry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Geelong Golf Club prides itself on fostering a vibrant golfing community, committed to excellence and showcasing the talents of professional and amateur golfers and we therefore invite the whole community to be a part of this magnificent event where skill and precision will be on full display,&#8221; Mr Christie added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re very grateful to the support of players who are on the Tour and competing in our event next month, they want to support the grassroots golf clubs and golfers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 542px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/02\/IMG_1008_46047.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"542\" height=\"362\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geelong Golf Club venue manager Paul Christie.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a relaxed atmosphere here after the tournament, so much so you&#8217;ll see players hang around afterwards for a beer and a slider.
