TELSTRA network users in Lara will not be able to use the mobile network from tomorrow (Thursday, February 29) until March 10 during selected hours.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes after the telecommunications company was advised a third party will be completing works near its mobile network tower in Lara.<\/p>\n
Lara residents and businesses will be unable to get access to the mobile network between the hours of 7am-7pm during the works.<\/p>\n
Telstra says that at 7pm each day until March 10, the network will be accessible, and the company will contact affected users advising them of the coming works.<\/p>\n
\u201cLandline services, NBN internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted,\u201d Telstra stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically be diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services.\u201d<\/p>\n
As an interim measure, Telstra is suggesting people in the Lara area to activate wi-fi calling on their phone.<\/p>\n
This is a free setting on most popular mobile phones and allows your mobile to use a wi-fi network to make and receive mobile calls.<\/p>\n

Many businesses use the Telstra network for their EFTPOS terminals, but Telstra advises this network is operated by financial institutions, not Telstra itself.<\/p>\n
Many EFTPOS terminals can also be connected using fixed line or wi-fi\/NBN internet connections.<\/p>\n
