The Barwon Women\u2019s Cricket Competition (BWCC) has called off this afternoon\u2019s (Sunday, March 10) A Grade and B Grade Grand Finals, due to extreme heat conditions.<\/p>\n
The BWCC, the region\u2019s governing body of senior women\u2019s cricket, announced via social media this morning the games were cancelled.<\/p>\n
With no reserve date locked in, the higher ranked sides (North Geelong and Barrabool) in both games have been crowned premiers as a result.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately the last blast of summer heat has fallen on the final weekend of the BWCC season, BWCC stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to the extreme heat forecast for today the A and B grade grand finals have been cancelled.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith no reserve day set the higher placed teams will be crowned the premiers.<\/p>\n
\u201cCongratulations to North Geelong Cricket Club and Barrabool Cricket Club. Thank you all for another successful season, only 6 months until the next one!\u201d<\/p>\n
North Geelong was slated to play against St Joseph\u2019s in the headline A Grade Grand Final today at Winter Reserve in Belmont at 1.30pm, while Barrabool and Geelong City were scheduled to meet in the B Grade decider at the same venue from 1pm.<\/p>\n
BWCC chair Lisa Armstrong-Rowe thanked all competition supporters for their efforts this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to East Belmont Cricket Club for hosting the junior girls this morning as well as senior games.<\/p>\n
\u201cCongratulations to Barrabool Cricket Club and North Geelong Cricket Club.\u201d<\/p>\n
Newtown & Chilwell (C Grade), Jan Juc (D Grade), Modewarre (E Grade), and Armstrong Creek (F Grade) were crowned premiers last week.<\/p>\n
The Geelong Cricket Association and Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association\u2019s Semi Finals will begin next weekend, after yesterday\u2019s (Saturday, March 9) matches were also cancelled due to heat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
