MORE than 1,500 vehicles both vintage and modern will arrive at Geelong’s Eastern Park this Sunday as part of the 33rd annual All Ford Day.<\/p>\n

A time-honoured event on Geelong’s motoring calendar, the spirit of Ford will be on full display celebrating the rich heritage and history of the motoring brand in the region.<\/p>\n

Among the Ford owners attending Sunday’s event, is Geelong Street Rodders club member and Drysdale resident Gregory “Zac” Smith with his 1937 Ford Coupe Ute \u2013 the second oldest ute model of Ford’s behind its 1934 predecessor.<\/p>\n

Mr Smith said this will be the sixth All Ford Day he will attend.<\/p>\n

“Fords have always been a favourite of mine due to their inner structures, which have always been made of steel, a lot different to other car makes, which were largely made from wood.<\/p>\n

“The All Ford Day is always a special event to attend, but we are seeing more and more of the modern Fords creeping in, which isn’t a bad thing, but the event has certainly changed over the years.<\/p>\n

“All my mates though have got really early Fords and I love seeing them built and seeing them on the day, a lot of which were ex-Geelong Ford bodies.”<\/p>\n

Event director Nicholas Heath said the weather was looking like it would be the best it had been in three years, as the All Ford Day tracked towards a record day for attendance.<\/p>\n

“We know people are hurting out there, but despite that, people are buying tickets, it’s looking like it might go close to being a record day again.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s because it an affordable day and generally a good, fun family day out, but other exciting things people should look out for is our display of the first ever Ford ute, which will be put up against Ford’s latest F150 for comparison.<\/p>\n

“I think a lot of people will get a kick out of that and the weather is looking a bit more on the warm side, but I’ll take that over rain any day of the week.”<\/p>\n

The event will run from 9am to 3pm.<\/p>\n
