Photos: JAMES TAYLOR<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The $8.7 million two-storey Ngarrwa project is jointly funded by the GLC community and the Victorian government, with $2.8 million funding from Round 4 of the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund.<\/p>\n<p>It contains new classrooms, Year 11 and Year 12 common spaces, staff offices and meeting rooms.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130141\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130141\" style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-130141 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/03\/IMG_2987_86907.jpg?_t=1710398608\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"393\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130141\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(L-R) GLC college captain Zachariah Watts, GLC executive principal Sue Ellis, South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman, Bishop Lestor Priebbenow and GLC college captain Jessita Jose cut the ribbon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Parliamentary Secretary for Education and South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman cut the ribbon for the new building with Ms Ellis and students, following speeches by Mr Cheeseman, GLC college captains Zachariah Watts and Jessita Jose and GLC head of secondary Josh Symes, and a blessing by Bishop Lestor Priebbenow.<\/p>\n<p>After the ribbon cutting, Bishop Priebbenow installed Ms Ellis in a short ceremony, in which she received tokens of office from the captains of GLC&#8217;s primary campuses in Armstrong Creek and Newtown, followed by afternoon tea.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130137\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130137\" style=\"width: 593px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-130137 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/03\/IMG_2883_49554.jpg?_t=1710398608\" alt=\"\" width=\"593\" height=\"395\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130137\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The centre contains a kitchen and lounge areas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The college stated it was grateful to receive a bequest from John and Iris Bowen, which also contributed to the new build.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Lutheran College&#8217;s (GLC) Armstrong Creek campus has officially opened its new building and welcomed its new executive principal.
