GEELONG musician Bridie Coughlan has been awarded the Economic Empowerment Award on International Women’s Day.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West (WHWBSW) and presented at the City of Greater Geelong Women in Community Life Awards, the award was presented by WHWBSW chief executive officer Jodie Hill.<\/p>\n
“Bridie’s work to support and empower others in the music industry is an inspiration,” Ms Hill said.<\/p>\n
“She is a driving force, empowering women and gender diverse people to create and embrace opportunities and paving the way for positive change within the community.”<\/p>\n
Ms Coughlan’s talent has seen her described as a ‘musical institution’ in Geelong, but her contribution extends beyond her musical abilities. She has demonstrated an enduring commitment to empowering others, particularly women and non-binary people, in their careers.<\/p>\n
The Women in Community Life Awards, hosted by the City of Greater Geelong, celebrate local women for their achievements in contributing to a fairer, more equitable community.<\/p>\n
Held on International Women’s Day, the awards recognise the 2024 IWD theme ‘Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.’<\/p>\n
