THE City of Greater Geelong are seeking expressions of interest in leasing two city-owned Norlane buildings.<\/p>\n

A childcare centre, City Learning and Care – Trude Moritz and a maternal child health facility previously called the Sparks Road address home.<\/p>\n

It is intended that the two buildings will be leased together by an interested community group or business with an approximate land area of 1,765sqm.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan hoped the process will see the facilities\u00a0re-activated.<\/p>\n

“We’re keen to hear proposals from interested community groups and businesses with ideas to give these buildings new life,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We’re especially hoping to see the site returned to being a place that brings benefit for the local community.”<\/p>\n

The buildings were previously occupied by A Childcare Centre and a maternal child health facility.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The expressions of interest process allows applicants to show their interest and how the property will be suitable for their needs, they will also be required to meet a number of objectives and outcomes outlined by the city.<\/p>\n

Geelong deputy mayor Anthony Aitken said the city regularly received requests for space, especially in the northern suburbs.<\/p>\n

“I am proud we are calling for Expression of Interest from the community to save and repurpose this space.<\/p>\n

It’s expected that an investment into renewing the facilities will be required to make them fit for purpose at the expense of the successful applicant.<\/p>\n

Applicants will need to meet objectives and outcomes set by the City in their proposals.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Site inspections will be available by appointment with the city’s property and leasing team.<\/p>\n

The community can also have their say on how they would like to see the buildings used, with their responses being considered as part of the assessment process.<\/p>\n

Expressions of interest are open now and will close on April 26 at 5pm.<\/p>\n
