The Queenscliff Sacrededge Festival is set to return for its 11th year providing attendees with an opportunity to learn and connect.<\/p>\n

The three-day event will take place at the Queenscliff Uniting Church from May 3 to 5, with a range of different activities on offer.<\/p>\n

The festival shows a glimpse of how lives are enriched by diversity with stories, poetry, music, workshops and local art, all with a focus on Indigenous, refugee, LGBTIQA+, mental health or environmental issues.<\/p>\n

“Sacrededge is a beautiful gathering of people, creating conversation around justice and diversity, and embracing culture and art,” Sacrededge Festival’s Margot Busch said.<\/p>\n

First Nations musicians Amos Roach and all-female band Kardajala Kirridarra will bookend the festival.<\/p>\n

Amos Roach is a singer-songwriter and presents a narrative of healing through song and dance, while Kardajala Kirridarra blend culture and language with contemporary music.<\/p>\n

A visual art exhibition will launch on the Saturday, filling the chapel space with Indigenous art.<\/p>\n

The festival has something on offer for everyone with a circus, magic and drama activities for the young ones.<\/p>\n

“To have the Indigenous community, asylum seeker community and the LGBTIQA+ community all under the one roof is an enriching, heartwarming experience, making Sacrededge an actual experience of diversity rather than a talk fest about diversity,” Ms Busch said.<\/p>\n

Joining a large number of artists and performers is Deakin University’s Dr Jacqui Pocklington who will take attendees through marine research solutions that will help mitigate climate change.<\/p>\n

Rural Pride Australia founder Daniel Witthaus has presented at the festival in the past and will make a return this year.<\/p>\n

“For all the talk of diversity, inclusion and welcome, rarely have I experienced the unique mix that this festival offers,” he said.<\/p>\n

A meal cooked by Tamil refugees on Saturday night is included in a weekend ticket.<\/p>\n
