{"id":95494,"date":"2024-05-08T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=95494"},"modified":"2024-05-01T17:45:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T07:45:04","slug":"silent-disco-comes-to-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/silent-disco-comes-to-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"Silent disco comes to Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEASTERHOOD will take to the streets of Geelong for the first time with their Silent Disco Walking Tour on May 10.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are given headphones to wear as they groove along the waterfront together, with uplifting 80s music playing in their ears.<\/p>\n<p>The Seasterhood was founded by Nicole Lordan and Jane Palmer in 2022, as a way to connect women, bringing their latest event to the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we&#8217;re doing is providing a space to connect people and also have fun together, so they feel like they can be themselves,&#8221; Ms Lordan said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/05\/Seasterhood1_84460.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants will dance and sing along the streets of Geelong as they make their way through the city. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s beautiful to see people live, feel free, have joy and to connect and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re going to do in Geelong.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Disco Duk Duk will lead the tour as he prompts the group members with spontaneous flashmobs and dancing throughout the city.<\/p>\n<p>During the hour-long silent disco, participants will make their way from the Geelong Waterfront up to Little Malop Street.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Lordan said the freedom for people to express themselves was one of the highlights of these types of events.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because you have these headphones on, you feel like you&#8217;re in your own kind of space.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/05\/seasterhood4_37231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Led by Disco Duk Duk the group will be guided with spontaneous flashmobs and movements. Photos: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Seasterhood are based in Williamstown and offer a range of different events, branching out into other towns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s always outdoors; it&#8217;s always near the sea or water, or in the sea, and to feel uplifted and feel energised, but to also feel a sense of belonging.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event is all inclusive and open for all fitness levels and ages with plenty of dancing and singing along the way.<\/p>\n<p>The Walking Tour will leave at 6.15pm from Steampacket Gardens and finish at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEASTERHOOD will take to the streets of Geelong for the first time with their Silent Disco Walking Tour on May 10.
