{"id":96932,"date":"2024-05-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-19T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=96932"},"modified":"2024-05-20T06:51:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-19T20:51:11","slug":"bell-park-celebrates-new-change-facilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/bell-park-celebrates-new-change-facilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Bell Park celebrates new change facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PLAYERS, coaches, and supporters of Bell Park Sports Club can now enjoy state-of-the-art facilities at its Batesford venue.<\/p>\n<p>City of Greater Geelong councillors, Member for Lara Ella George, and club president Rose Pirrottina officially opened the soccer club&#8217;s new $1.9 million change facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Trent Sullivan said the facilities upgrade has created a more welcoming environment for female players.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/05\/438087271_8611378227_82740.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mayor Trent Sullivan speaks to Bell Park SC players and supporters.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Soccer participation amongst women and girls is booming following the Matildas&#8217; amazing run at last year&#8217;s World Cup, and it&#8217;s important we encourage this growth by providing our local clubs with the best possible facilities,&#8221; Mayor Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Council is really pleased to have supported this project with a major investment, and we&#8217;re thankful to the Victorian Government for its significant contribution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jointly funded by the City of Greater Geelong ($1.7 million) and the Victorian Government ($250,000), the new change rooms replace the previous one, which no longer met the accepted standards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/05\/441458502_8611377593_82744.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"601\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bell Park Sports Club representatives in front of their new change rooms.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new rooms also feature change facilities for officials, a first aid room and storage spaces.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Allan Labor Government is leading the way when it comes to women in sport, ensuring that more women and girls have access to high quality facilities across Geelong&#8217;s north,&#8221; Ms George said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new female friendly change rooms are a game changer for local football, so we can say goodbye to the days of women and girls changing in the back of the car.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With women&#8217;s football more popular than ever, we&#8217;re ensuring local clubs like Bell Park Sports Club have the facilities they need to support the Matildas of the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bell Park&#8217;s home, located at the corner of the Midland Highway and Lynnburn Road, recently received a new $397,000 LED sports lighting upgrade last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PLAYERS, coaches, and supporters of Bell Park Sports Club can now enjoy state-of-the-art facilities at its Batesford venue.
